Commedia Dell’Arte Specialist – Teacher & Performer
Capilano University, North Vancouver, B.C.
“My name is Shelley Stewart Hunt and I am on faculty as the dance and musical theatre instructor of Capilano University’s Musical Theatre Program in North Vancouver, BC. I am a professional performer and choreographer with over 25 years professional experience.I have known Angela for 15 years and have always been impressed with her work as an artist and instructor. Angela has been teaching various forms of dance and theatre for many years and I have seen the successful results of her hard work and positive attitude with her classes. As a creator/producer her work covers commedia, historical dance, text-based shows, site-specific creations and musical theatre. Angela is bright, articulate, charismatic and has unmistakable stage presence which makes her a sought-after performer as well as instructor. I have hired Angela for numerous workshops and master classes for students and instructors at Capilano University. I have also hired Angela as a performer for a USA Network television series episode for which I was casting dancers. I know Angela to be a dynamic and engaging teacher who shows great passion for the material she presents. Her warmth, humour and clear communication put those she is working with at ease and make for a positive and freely creative work environment. Angela’s depth of knowledge and creative integrity are impressive and definitely motivate students to pursue higher goals. Angela is an excellent leader with a high level of responsibility and commitment to her craft. She approaches her students and work with respect, professionalism and a genuinely enthusiastic approach. I have no doubt that Angela will profit greatly from the program …. and be able to share her newly acquired expertise and knowledge with her students and colleagues via workshops, masterclasses and productions as well as the local theatre community.” Shelley S. Workshop In Florence Italy
A two-week intensive workshop in Commedia dell’Arte with Roberto Andrioli.
“Angela Brown attended our Commedia workshop that took place in Florence last february 2015. She brought to the work her previous acting skills and experience with Commedia dell’Arte theatre, Baroque and Renaissance dance. Her goal attending the workshop was to develop her already rich experience as an actor – dancer–teacher. Ms Angela Brown has a very good attitude towards learning and improvising. She was very positive in her relations with other students and to the work”. Roberto Andrioli

“I liked the mixture of performance, discussion and participatory activities. The mixture was a nice balance. The length was great, we all had so much fun! We loved the Commedia program. Angela did a superb job of engaging all ages from 3 yrs to 15 years old and the adult audience too. The presentation style appealed to varied learning styles – kinesthetic, visual and auditory.” Darlene Rainbow, Ladner home school association. B.C.
“I am the co-director of West Coast Chamber Music. Since 2006 to the present date, WCCM has been collaborating with interdisciplinary artist, Angela Brown. Angela has contributed her expertise to three collaborative projects, children’s productions. Together, we have adapted and co-written all three presentations blending classical music with puppetry, Commedia del’arte and Historical theatre, storytelling, dance, mime. These shows feature Angela as performer. Over the years, they have toured successfully to schools and community theaters in the lower mainland. In all of my interactions with Angela, I have found her to be one of the most highly creative and talented people I have encountered. She is very easy to work with, reliable, professional and good humoured. On stage, she is truly captivating, animated, comical when necessary and she holds the audience spell bound. Our pieces come to life with Angela’s abilities expressed through Commedia, voice, acting, movement and puppetry.
