Collaborations between Evelyn Roth and Angela Brown
Angela has worked with Evelyn since the late nineties on a variety of projects including dance, storytelling and animating Evelyn’s inflatables sculptures integrating her visual art. Angela has toured with Evelyn to Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Evelyn invited Angela to animate/choreograph her wearable artwork at the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) for the retrospective exhibition ‘Between Object and Action’: Transforming Media in the 60’s & 70’s.

A forty five minute play with short scenes, original songs and dances. The story follows the escapades of a seventeen year old by the name of Claire…“As Canadian as a pile of freshly raked maple leaves” (The Vancouver Courier) who lands a job as a dancer in a circus. Against her mother’s wishes, she runs away to join the circus,where she meets Frederico, magician and choreographer, who spoils her fun. She runs away form the circus and enters… The Circus of Life.
